The original course had 18 holes, but after a hurricane in 1938 the course lost 3 holes and was reduced to the 9 holes which it is today. The Links fell into disuse in 1912, but were revived in 1994 as a hickory course and have staged the US National Hickory Championship. The first golf course was a 9-hole layout on Fletcher’s Field, part of Mount Royal Park on the outskirts of Montreal but the club moved to Dixie in 1896 where it remained for over sixty years until it moved to its present site at Ile Bizard in 1959. Honey Bee is one of seven golf courses under the management of Hampton Roads Golf. His influence is especially evident in the course's elaborate bunker complexes. Open courses such as Torrey Pines and Bethpage Black, built Honey Bee G.C. Rees Jones, the famed "Open Doctor" who is known for his severe treatments of U.S. The golf course also appeals to discerning players drawn by Honey Bee's sophisticated design touches. But Honey Bee has remained a popular choice for locals who prefer its friendly, neighborhood feel. Opened in 1988, the golf course - like the surrounding development - is starting to show some age. Surrounded by busy streets and a bustling community, Honey Bee has some limitations imposed by its cramped quarters, playing to a par of 70 and only 6,075 yards from the back tees. But the demise of Glenwood Country Club has worked to the benefit of public players in the Virginia Beach area as Honey Bee Golf Club has thrived as a modestly priced, well conditioned muni. It was conceived three decades ago as a private club serving a modern housing development.
